The Curse ( Character that you like )

Choose any of the texts above and answer the question below.

Using details from the novel you have studied, write about a character whom you like in the novel.  Give reasons to support your answer.

            The character whom I like in the novel, The Curse by Lee Su Ann is Azreen Saleh.  She is the main character in the novel and I really learn a lot from what is happening around her.

            There are a few reasons why I like Azreen.  In the first reasons is because Azreen is a good friend to the people that she likes.  For example, she is a good friend to the people that she likes.  For example, she is a good friend of the Old Lady who was ousted ( dipinggirkan )  by the villagers because of her past mistakes.  Azreen is loyal and defends the Old Lady when the Old Lady is accused of poisoning Nek by Puan Normala and the villagers.  Azreen is also a good friend of Mohd Asraf.  One good example is when she quickly confessed to Encik Mohan telling him that she is the one who open the gate letting the bull out so that Mohd Asraf will not scolded.  Because of confession, Mohd Asraf is saved but Azreen her self get a beating from her father.  These two examples show that Azreen is protective of her friend.

            The second reasons why I like Azreen because she is a top student in her school.  For example, she has been chosen for exchanged program for two month a later she has been offered to study in London for two years.  Azreen is also an active student in sports.  She joined Mohd Asraf in a hockey game and is a good at playing.  Its shows that Azreen is an all-rounder.

            The last reasons why I like Azreen is because she is a very strong person emotionally.  For example, Azreen does not cry even though she has just lost her three’s family members and the Old Lady.  In the epilogue, she returned to London and felt that she needs to leave the past behind and begins a new live with Julian in London.  It shows that Azreen accepts things as the way they are and realizes that her life must gone on.

            Based on the reasons and examples given above prove that Azreen is normal like anyone of us.  She may look rough and rude but she has good intention at heart.  In conclusion Azreen is a great character portrayed in the novel.
